The output of a list import using Mass List is an email containing three attached files. One details the new records that were created. The second is an error file detailing records that were not matched or created (one of the fields had text in a numeral field for instance). The third file details the records from the list that matched records you already owned. We’ve had clients take that file back to their data vendor and receive a credit. Declone Mass List performs all of the following steps with one simple upload:
- Update the matching Contact and notify the owner
- Update the matching Lead and notify the owner
- Create the new Contact in an existing Account and notify the owner
- Create the new Lead and notify the owner
- Link the new Lead to an existing Lead from the same company
- Have a campaign assigned as the list is being uploaded
Choose how you want that new data treated. Choose to “overwrite” or “update if blank” or “don’t update” any field in the matching Lead or Contact. For example, you might choose to overwrite an old phone number with the new number on your list but want to keep the existing email address the same unless the field is currently blank. The choice is yours.
No data is ever lost. All overwritten data is archived as a task activity, so it will always be available.
